Marcus F. Nolting, 94 of Elizabethtown, died Sunday 9-27-15 at 5:05 a. m. at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana Inpatient facility.
Born in Bartholomew County 11-20-20, Marcus was the son of Marcus and Elsie Schumacher Nolting. He married Bertha T. Meier on 8-21-49. She preceded him in death on 12-4-91. He later married Nancy Ann Taylor. She preceded him in death in ’12.
Marcus was a graduate of Columbus High School in ’39. He worked on the family farm until serving in the U. S. Army Infantry during WW II attained the rank of Sargent. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church-Clifty where he was baptized in 12-20. He was a member of the American Legion Post 24 of Columbus and after moving to Scottsburg he was a member of the North Vernon VFW where he was active on the Color Guard.
The funeral service for Marcus will be Thursday 10-1 at 11:30 a. m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church Chapel-Clifty with Pastor Douglas Bauman officiating. Burial will follow in the cemetery at the church. Calling will be 2 hours prior to the service at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the church or Hospice. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.myers-reed.com.
Marcus is survived by his children, Stanley ( Cathy) Nolting, Greensburg, Steven (Sabrina) Nolting, Elizabethtown and Neil Nolting, Elizabethtown; a step son Lincoln (Dawn) Taylor, Lexington IN; a sister, Carol (Kenny) Kiel, Columbus, 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his 1st and 2nd wife; sisters, Virginia Burbrink, Elizabeth Cline and Rosalyn Lanham; brothers, Max and Morris Nolting and a step daughter, Nancy Yvonne Taylor.
