Jean Ellen Wheeler

Jean Ellen Wheeler, 81, of Columbus passed away Monday, April 12, 2021, at St Francis Hospital in Indianapolis. Jean was born February 7, 1940 in Scott County, Kentucky, the daughter of Wilmer and Corinne Wiley Boots. She married Randall B. Wheeler July 13, 1974 at First Baptist Church in Columbus; he preceded her in death February 7, 2021. She worked in the office of Cummins Engine Company 39 years, retiring in 1996. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Columbus where she taught Sunday school, Sang in the Choir, Worship Chairperson, a member of Church Council and Bible Study Fellowship many years. She was also very active in Emmaus. She was a member of American Business Women and chosen to be Woman of the Year, member of National Honor Society and was a very devoted loving Mother of a special needs child. She is survived by her daughter, Corinna Elizabeth “Corie” Wheeler of Columbus; Step children, Penny (David) Breugemann, Kelly (Mike) Rocchio and Michael (Wendy) Wheeler; sister, Jacqueline (Larry) Speaker of Columbus. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her Parents; Husband; Brother, George Boots; Sister Gloriana Richards. Funeral service will be conducted Friday at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Dan Cash and Rev. Jon Carlstrom officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Myers~ Reed Chapel on 25th Street and from 10:00 a.m. Friday to service time at the Church. Private inurnment will be at a later date in Garland Brook Mausoleum. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.myers-reed.com. Social distancing must be followed and masks are required at the funeral home and the church.
