Doris Louise Pugh passed away at her home on October 25th, 2021, surrounded by family.
Doris was born March 9th, 1931, in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Oda and Arzelma Burden. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Dayton Ohio in June 1949. She married the love of her life, Ernest L. Pugh that same year. Ernest passed February 1991.
After moving to Columbus, IN., Doris, her husband, and children joined First United Methodist Church. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved sewing and did alterations from her home. Doris was an avid reader and her family enjoyed boating, water skiing and fishing. She enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, word scrambles, antique hunting, square dancing, and most of all was a “die-hard” NASCAR fan.
She is survived by her son Garry S. Pugh (Nancy Pugh) (Nashville, IN.), daughter Theresa Collins (Columbus, IN.), granddaughter Blair Davis, great granddaughter Kaia Davis, and niece Deanna Strait (Tom Strait) (Columbus, OH.).
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ernest, son Jody, sister Wilma Spencer, and brother Billy Joe Burden.
Her family would like to sincerely thank all the nurses at Our Hospice Center of Columbus Indiana for helping make sure Doris’ last days were comfortable as we would not have been able to keep her at home until the end without their devoted and selfless care. Special heartfelt thanks to Amy, Jessica, Deb, Gwendolyn, Dawn, and Jennifer.
In keeping with Doris' wishes, cremation will take place and a private memorial service for her family will be held at her home. Memorial Donations may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana. Floral arrangements may be sent to Myers-Reed Chapel or Doris' home.
