Wilma Jean Shumate, age 84, of Roswell, Georgia, formerly of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Monday, November 21, 2022 at Sandy Springs Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Yakima, Washington. She was the daughter of the late Ancil and Ruby (Volkman) Pittman.
Jean’s many interests focused on family and faith. She enjoyed traveling and gardening.
Jean is survived by her loving sons, Mark Shumate and Jeff Shumate; her loving sister, Cleta Britson; and he loving grandchildren, Claire Lybbert, Jared Shumate, Eve Shumate, Sage Shumate, Luke Shumate, and Matthew Shumate. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert Shumate, passed away in 1986.
Jean's Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2022 in the Mill Room at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907. Pastor Tim Newby will be officiating. There will be a visitation on Saturday morning at Striffler-Hamby from 9:00AM to 10:00AM. Private family burial will follow at Parkhill Cemetery.
