Willie was born October 17, 1963 in Brevard County, Florida; the son of Willie Brann Womack, Sr. and Susan Almeta Medlin Womack. He grew up in the greater Cocoa Beach area in Florida. After high school, he attended Wichita State University. On a full-ride scholarship, he played football at Wichita State University as an offensive lineman (center) and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. Willie retired in 2016 with 30 years of service in Federal Law Enforcement. He is currently a member of the National Tactical Officers Association (NTOA) and the Florida SWAT Association. Mr. Womack is currently an Assistant Chief Judge for SWAT Round-Up International (SRI) and has been associated with that organization for 18 years.
To know Willie, was to know that he lived his life to the fullest in every sense of the meaning; he worked hard, loved fiercely, and cared deeply. He loved his family, was blessed with loving parents, a cherished brother, and his pride – his son Crockett.
He enjoyed traveling, learning, and appreciating all the corners of the world and he had no lack of photos to prove it. He loved his friends – every one of them. He could always be called on for help and was always available to celebrate.
Willie was an instructor by trade – he always had a pointer, a correction (usually a gentle correction), or tidbit of knowledge to share. He was very skilled in his profession, but also imparted a sense of deep appreciation - for time spent with loved ones and cherished experiences.
There was no shortage of antics with Willie and his friends. Friends that had become more like brothers. With no lack of personality, he continuously laughed along with friends, but tried diligently to be the “straight man.”
While there may be no statue or building erected in his name, his name and legacy lives in the hearts of the many people his life touched - his family, friends, colleagues, students – the list goes on. His impact was tremendous and felt by all and it will surely not be forgotten.
