Mrs. Foskey was born on February 27, 1924 in Columbus, GA to the late B. Brown and Willie Cleveland Ledbetter Brown, and she was the middle child of seven children. Mrs. Foskey was a lifelong resident of Columbus and member of Morningside Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Widow’s Group. She was an avid gardener and loved spending time reading a good romance novel. Mrs. Foskey enjoyed baking, and every year at Christmas time she would bake each of her children their own special cake. She loved to travel, having visited Europe, Alaska, Hawaii to name a few; but at the age of 75 she and her niece, Maryann, traveled to Vermont during the winter where they rented snow mobiles and she was insistent that she was going to be the driver. Mrs. Foskey retired for a second time at the age of 81 from CB&T/Synovus where she worked as a Loan Operation Supervisor after 42 years of service. Spoiling her grandchildren was always a favorite for her.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 ½ years of marriage, Clifford C. Foskey; a son, Larry Foskey; and a grandson, Charles D. “Chuck” Foskey.
Survivors include her children, Charles Foskey of Columbus, Brenda Adkins of Shiloh, GA, Terri Westveer (Ed) of Midland, GA, and Peggy Slaughter (Jerry) of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Michael Slaughter, Derek Bruner, Lee Bruner, Sherry Hale, Chuck Foskey, Rodney Foskey, Kimberly Foskey, James Foskey, Joy Garfield, Vincent Garfield, Victoria Garfield, Marina Westveer and Niki Westveer; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her niece, Maryann Williams and great-niece, Vicki Williams both of Phenix City, AL.
