William Joseph Overby, 76, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, December 10, 2024. He was born on October 8,1948 to the late William B. Overby and Jonell Starnes Overby. He graduated from Jordan High School and attended Columbus Technical College where he obtained an associates degree.
A visitation for family and friends for Billy will be held Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 12:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary - Columbus, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907. A funeral service will occur Saturday, December 14, 2024 at 1:00 PM, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907. A burial to follow after chapel service will occur Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907.
Billy was a lifelong resident of Columbus, Georgia. He was employed by Publix for 10 years working in the produce department.
Billy had many hobbies he loved to do, but what he loved the most was his chickens. He would spend hours with his grandchildren teaching them about chickens and taking the upmost care for them as they were a part of his family. He had a great love and passion for animals, music, dancing, his Georgia Bulldogs, church, and his family, especially his grandchild.
Billy loved and cherished his family and friends. He was always focused on creating special memories for his family, even when he was having a bad day. He will be deeply missed and loved by all.
He is preceded in death by his parents, William B. Overby and Jonell Starnes Overby, his brothers, Mike and Bobby Overby, his mother and father-in-law, Rosie Mae and Arlion Monroe Morrison, his brother and sister-in-law, Raymond Morrison, Kathy Morrison, Jackie Morrison, Mark Morrison.
Billy is survived by his wife, Rosie Jean Overby, daughter, Ginger Kay Jackson, grandson, Michael Logan Jackson, sister, Diann Thacker (Wayne), sister-in-law’s, Debbie Morrison, Teresa Shaw, Linda Owens, Wanda Morrison, Michelle Morrison, Donna Roy (Marty), brother in-law’s, Tommy Morrison, Donnie Morrison, Rusty Morrison, as well as his very special friends who helped him through his bad days, Glenda Clark, Mark Pollock, Debra Lees, and Linda Owens.
