Tommy Toole, age 75, lifelong resident of Columbus, passed away on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at his residence. Funeral services are scheduled at Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby, Columbus on Thursday, September 29, 2016, 2 p.m. with Reverend Mike Reeves officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 from 5-7 p.m.
Mr. Toole, son of the late Jesse Thomas Toole, Sr. and Tallulah Kansas Johnson Toole, was born June 3, 1941 in Columbus.
He was retired from the Columbus Fire Department where he faithfully served for many years. Mr. Tool served his country honorably in the U.S. Marine Corp and was an active member of 2nd Baptist Church, Columbus. He was an avid Alabama Football fan, enjoyed hunting and fishing, metal detecting, geneology research, and old movies.
Mr. Toole is survived by his wife of 52 years, Carol Toole of Columbus; two daughters, Deborah Toole of Smiths Station, Alabama and Christine Wicklund and her husband Trint of Waverly Hall, Georgia; one son, Jesse Toole and his wife Kimberly of Columbus; one sister, Bette Griffin and her husband Bryan of LaGrange, Georgia; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
