Shirley P Sutton, age 70, of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2023. A visitation for the family and friends of Shirley will be held Friday, January 20, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, Georgia 31907, and the funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM.
Shirley, was born on May 31, 1952 in Bonifay, FL; the daughter of William G. Payne and Lula Mae Payne. She graduated from Bonifay High School. Shirley continued her education receiving her degree in nursing and becoming a Registered Nurse. She worked at Oak Manor, The Medical Center, and Doctor’s Hospital. Shirley was a very giving, nurturing, caring person, and a woman who found value in serving others. She loved to laugh; she had a wonderful sense of humor, she loved a good comedy, and was not afraid to laugh at herself. Shirley loved a crossword puzzle, jigsaw puzzle, a good book, and she never missed an episode of Jeopardy. Shirley was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, she enjoyed worshiping, teaching and helping the children in Sunday School. Her greatest love was for her husband and son, followed closely by her love of Alabama Football. Roll Tide!
Shirley is preceded in death by: her parents, William and Lula Mae Payne.
Survivors include: her husband, Roy Sutton; and her son, Matthew Sutton.
