Ruthie Evelyn Bridges

Columbus, GA- Ruthie J. Bridges, 84, of Columbus, GA, took her last breath here on earth and her first breath in Heaven, Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Columbus Hospice House.

A graveside service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 8, 2013 in Parkhill Cemetery with Reverend Gary Richardson officiating according to Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA, 31907. The family will receive friends Friday evening, June 7, 2013 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bridges was born March 11, 1929 in Little Rock, AR, daughter of the late Jesse and Lois Robinson Jones. She worked for many years at Swift Textiles filling many positions including her last as Inspector. Mrs. Bridges was a longtime member of Central Baptist Church. She loved to attend gospel singings, fishing, and most of all being with her family.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bridges was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Francis Marion Bridges, two sisters, and four brothers.

Survivors include her daughter, Terra Pennington and her husband, James, her two grandchildren, John Wesley Pennington and Crystal Deanne Pennington, her great granddaughter, Hayden Grace Brown; her sister, Nell Trawick, numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends.
