Mr. Henderson was born on November 20, 1952 to Carrie Permenter and George Henderson in Albany, GA. The family moved to Talbot County, GA, where Roderick spent majority of his life. He graduated from Baker High School in Columbus, GA in 1970. Roderick then went on to become a master carpenter for over 50 years, working all over the United States. He continued to work on many small projects at his home after he retired. Rodericks’ major emphasis in life was his family, the Lord, the outdoors, and the Georgia Bulldogs. He had a heartfelt passion for giving to others and he lived his life the way the Lord called him to. He was a devout member of Fellowship Assembly of God in Smiths Station, AL. Roderick was a loving son, brother, father, and grandfather whom will be dearly missed.
Roderick is preceded in death by his father George Henderson and his mother Carrie Permenter; his brothers Raymond Henderson; WL Henderson (Stillborn); Lamar Henderson; Johnny Henderson;Danny Henderson and his sister Linda Armstrong. He is survived by his brothers “Big” Kenneth Henderson (Janet) of Columbus, GA and Wendell Henderson (Patsy) of Talbotton, GA; His sister Janell Dixon of Cataula, GA; his son Roderick Henderson of Hamilton, GA; his granddaughter Madison Henderson of Cataula, GA; and many special nieces and nephews.
The family will greet friends at Striffler-Hamby Funeral Home, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA on Monday, August 14, 2023 from 6PM -8PM. Graveside services will be held at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, GA, on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at 11AM, with Pastor Shane Collins officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Fellowship Assembly of God at 619 Lee Road 243, Smiths Station, AL.
