Born Jan 13 1926 in Baltimore MD, Bob was preceded by his father, Harry S. Whitmore and mother, Eveline E. Coley of Baltimore, MD. Also preceding Bob were his brothers, Herb and Marvin Whitmore, both of MD and a sister Carol Halterman of PA. Donna, his wife of over 30 years, survives him along with his brother, Jack Whitmore, his daughters Janet Koontz and husband Jay, and Laurie Short and husband Scott, and a step-son John Bowles and wife Susan. Bob leaves a legacy of much love to his 7 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Bob Whitmore was retired from over 40 years of civil service with the U.S. Government. His service included time in Germany and Alaska before retirement to Fort Benning. Bob spent his retirement sharing his gift of music with the community playing the accordion, piano, and keyboard at local churches, his own church of Midland UMC, and with local musical groups including "The Dinglelings." He shared live gospel music and golden oldies at various retirement and nursing homes, bringing them the joy of music, as well as to those restricted by age and medical needs. It was his sincere joy to bring smiles to people's faces, share a joke with anyone whom he encountered, and help anyone in need whenever he could.
As a member of Midland Lodge #144 and Valley of Columbus Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, Bob was dedicated to his God and savior, and believed in a life of servanthood to help others in finding faith and help from our great Creator. His dedication to his fellow man was inspirational to his family, friends and community.
