SFC (Ret) Norman Ronald Reagan, age 83, of Columbus, Georgia passed on February 3, 2021. A visitation will be held at 10: 00 am until 10:50 am on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Rd; A Celebration of Ron’s life will follow at 11:00 am; Inurnment will follow the service at Ft. Benning Cemetery.
Ron was born in Greeneville, Tennessee on March 31, 1937; the son of Richard Mac Reagan and Ruby Bell Inscore. After high school, Ron joined the U. S. Army and served in Germany. During this time in Germany, he met his future wife, Elisabeth “Liz” Elsbeth Schafer. They married on June 6, 1957 and returned to the states to start their family. Ron continued to serve in the Army during the Vietnam War and Korean War. Ron retired from the army after 20+ years of service, achieving the rank of SFC. He started a new career in the auto body repair industry, he worked for Jay Pontiac as a Collision Specialist. Ron was a lifelong Mason. He was a man who always tried to do the right thing in life. He was grateful for his family, and it showed. He was a good husband, a great dad and a great grandfather. Ron firmly believed that marriage was a lifelong commitment; he was married to Liz for 64 years. He enjoyed many things in his life, after retirement he took the time to travel, and he appreciated good humor. Ron was extremely passionate about bluegrass music. Whether he was playing at bluegrass music festivals, listening to bluegrass music or just being around others that shared his passion. What Ron truly loved was his family, they were everything to him, his wife, his children, especially his granddaughter Sarah, and his dog.
Ron is preceded in death by: his parents Richard and Ruby Reagan; brothers, Billy, Kenneth, Richard Reagan; and a sister, Maryanne Reagan.
Survivors include: his wife, Elsbeth Reagan; daughters, Ann Wallace, Jane DuBois; son, Ron Reagan Jr.; grandchildren, Walter Wallace Jr., Shawn Wallace, Bo DuBois, Aaron Reagan, Sarah Reagan; his brothers, Paul Reagan, Ralph Reagan; sister, Barbara McGinnis; seven great grandchildren; and friends of the family that will cherish his memory.
