A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, June 25, 2022 in Edgewood Hall at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, Columbus, GA. Reverend Ken Dawson and Reverend Brad Parker will be officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the Mill Room at the funeral home.
Martha was born November 19, 1919 in Louisville, AL daughter of the late Robert Bruce and Mabel Betty Alums McDonald. She worked and retired from the Bibb Manufacturing Company after 42 years of service. Martha was a devoted member of Porter Memorial Baptist Church for over 50 years. She served on many church committees, sang in the choir and taught Sunday school for many years. Martha loved everyone she met and was eager to help anyone in need. She also loved spending time and sharing memories with her family. We will miss her presence daily, but her memory will live forever in our hearts.
Martha married the love of her life, the late Loren B. Patterson and they shared a loving relationship for 60 years.
In addition to her parents and husband, Martha was preceded in death by three sisters Ercelle Dawson, Nadine Herring and Erma Herring; two brothers, Braxton McDonald and Kyle McDonald.
Survivors include a devoted sister, Beulah Roberts, niece, Martha Jeanelle Fourhman and her husband, Dan, several great nieces and nephews.
