We gather to celebrate the warm and wonderful life of Dorothy Marie Wall, affectionately known as "Marie" to her loved ones. Born on August 8, 1938, in Columbus, Georgia, Marie brought her unique brand of joy, humor, and love to the world for 86 full and memorable years. She passed away peacefully on December 11, 2024, in Peachtree City, Georgia, a place she called home and filled with laughter and warmth.
Marie spent a life rich with adventure and love, alongside her beloved husband Leonard, who has been eagerly awaiting her in heaven. They married in 1957, embarking on a lifelong journey together that would see them raising an incredible family. With cherished memories, they welcomed Elaine, Leonard, Stacey, Mike, and Joey into the world, all of whom will carry on her legacy of compassion and kindness. Her family grew further to include grandchildren—Joslin, Ben, Wes, Drew, and Conner who found in her both a steadfast defender and their most enthusiastic fan.
Marie delighted in the simple pleasures that made life sweet. She was an ardent supporter of the Atlanta Falcons and the Atlanta Braves, often seen cheering on the teams with emphatic enthusiasm, or perhaps a bit of sage advice for the players from her armchair. Her love for bingo and game shows meant her house often echoed with the sounds of thrilling wins and minor losses met with an infectious laugh. Above all, giving made her heart sing. Marie's generosity overflowed during holidays and birthdays, lighting up her home with smiles as she showered gifts upon her family.
A moderately religious woman, Marie embraced her Christian faith comfortably and quietly, drawing strength in its solace and teachings. Her kindness and warmth were palpable to those who knew her, a testament to the deep belief she carried within. Though her absence leaves a profound void, there's a peace in knowing she's now embraced by a greater love and reunited with Leonard.
Marie will forever be missed, yet her spirit remains a beacon of joy and love. Her family, including daughters-in-law Emily and Kelly, carry forward her unwavering devotion. As John Lennon might say, "All you need is love," and Marie certainly left us with more than we will ever need. To everyone she touched, she sends all of her love from her eternal home above.
