Margaret Elliott, of Columbus, GA went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 5, 2023. A Gathering of Family and friends will take place on Thursday, August 10, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary in Columbus. The Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 P.M. with a committal at Park Hill Cemetery following the service.
Margaret was a devoted wife, loving mother, fun grandmother, doting great-grandmother, proud great-great-grandmother and known to many as “Aunt Margaret.” She retired from Sunshine Biscuits with 29 years of service and lifelong friendships.
Margaret loved the Lord, her family, Southern Gospel music, funny stories, and good hugs. Every errand took longer than it should because she saw somebody she knew or made a new friend along the way. Most evenings were spent on the porch with Rudolph, shelling peas and visiting with someone that stopped by. She enjoyed sewing and collecting sewing machines and fabric for future projects. She tended her plants and encouraged her roses to thrive with the addition of coffee grounds. She proudly displayed every greeting card and school picture in a place of honor on her piano.
Margaret was often busy cooking something delicious. She even starred in a commercial from her own kitchen. There was never a meal without her biscuits and cornbread. The family shared holidays, memories, and life around her table, usually with banana pudding or peanut butter cake. Her proudest accomplishment was her family and the love we have for each other.
Margaret’s love for Jesus guided her in all things and she taught us what it means to walk with Him. We rejoice in the fact that her upcoming 93rd birthday will be a heavenly celebration.
