Madge Watson, age 92, of Midland, Georgia passed away on Sunday September 16, 2018. Madge was born June 21, 1926 in Clayton, Alabama to Ruby Davis Watson and Doc J. Watson. She attended Elementary school in Texasville, AL. Madge graduated from Eufaula High School and Southwestern Baptist Seminary, Ft. Worth, TX. Though she was never married nor had children of her own, Madge’s ministry was taking care of children. She was the Executive Director of the Lee & Beulah Moore Children’s Home in El Paso, TX. Mage was a member of First Baptist Church El Paso, and was active in several local organizations in El Paso, as well as Texas and National Child Care organizations.
Madge was preceded in death by her father Doc J. Watson and mother Ruby Davis Watson; her brother Bennett J. Watson and sister-in-law Betty J. Watson. She is survived by nephew Bennett R. Watson; great nephews Bennett R. Watson, Jr. and Christopher J. Watson; several great-great nephews, one niece, and many friends.
A visitation for family and friends for Madge will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2018 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the St. Elmo Room of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907. A Graveside Celebration of Madge's Life will occur Thursday, September 20, 2018 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA, with Reverend Howard White officiating.
