Julia Syble Wiggins Palmer

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 4, 2011 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, GA 31907 with Reverend Thad Smith officiating. A private interment will follow the service. The family will greet friends this evening from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Mrs. Palmer was born September 3, 1927 in Marion County, GA, daughter of the late Lazarus and Julia Hart Wiggins. She was a member of Morningside Baptist Church for 46 years, where she actively volunteered in the library for 40 of those years.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Palmer was preceded in death by three brothers, Travis Wiggins, Jim Wiggins, Farris Wiggins, and one sister, Paige W. Fuller.

Survivors include her loving husband of 62 years, Conrad J. Palmer of Columbus, GA; one daughter, Cathy P. McLendon and her husband, Ron of Canton, GA; one granddaughter, Courtenay T. Dykes and her husband, Boo of Columbus, GA; one great-granddaughter, Julia Palmer Dykes of Columbus, GA; one great-grandson, Clay Ivester Dykes of Columbus, GA. The family would like to extend special affection to the entire extended Palmer/Fuller family members, and to Cathy's "chosen sister and niece" Annie Ruth and Nina Caldwell.
