Joseph “Joe” William George Sr., 77, of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Wednesday, February 2,2022. A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 7, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. at Parkhill Cemetery.
Born on March 21, 1944, in Columbus, Georgia, he was the son of the late Robert Ford George, Sr. and Laura Inez Scott George. Joseph attended Jordan Vocational School. He married his wife Vicky on March 25, 2002, in Phenix City, Alabama. He attended Epworth UMC in Phenix City until his health prevented him from attending. Joseph had a career as a truck driver where he worked for many different trucking companies before retiring. He enjoyed volunteering his time to others, he volunteered at Lakewood Elementary and Lakewood Primary Schools in Phenix City for many years. He was “Volunteer of the Year” for Phenix City schools in 2010 and 2011. Joseph had a strong relationship with God and dedicated each of this day of his life to God, his family and serving others. He loved his family more than anything, he loved spending time with them. He also loved going to thrift stores and pawn shops in search of finding things for people.
Joseph is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Arie Louise George, Dorothy Young, Patricia Reynolds, and Barbara Ann Shofner; brothers, Henry and Edward George; father-in-law, Thomas Noah Beck, Jr.; brother-in-laws, Scott Ensor, Fred Shofner
Those left to cherish his memories are his wife, Vicky George; sons, Thomas George, Matthew George and Joseph George, Jr.; daughter, Martha Medaris (Bill); grandchildren, Kyle, Hannah, Luke, Teagan, and Cameron George, Samantha Medaris and Monica Popham; 6 great grandchildren; brothers Robert and Ricky George; sisters, Annie Mae Rose, Louise Ensor, and Vicky Joyce George; sister-in-laws, Erika George, Susan Beck; brother-in-laws; Larry Young and Patrick Beck (Mechelle); and his mother-in-law Bonnie Beck; numerous nieces and nephews.
