SFC (US ARMY Ret) James Wilburn Maddox September 30, 1924- April 12, 2015 Anniston, AL- James Wilburn Maddox, 90, of Anniston, AL passed away peacefully at NHC Health Care Center in Anniston, AL , on Sunday, April 12, 2015. He was born in Alabama to his late parents, Austin and Katie Cobb Maddox on September 30, 1924. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church of Oxford, AL. James proudly served his country in the US Army and was a Veteran of Three Wars: WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He was a 33rd degree Mason and member of Columbia Lodge number 7 F. & AM/ Hartwell Lodge number 101 Oxford, AL. The family will receive guests for visitation Wednesday, April 15, 2015 5-7 pm in the Wildwood Room of Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Rd. Columbus, GA. A Celebration of James' Life will begin Thursday, April 16, 2015 at 11:00 am in Edgewood Hall of Striffler-Hamby followed by a Committal Service with Full Military Honors and Masonic Rites at Parkhill Cemetery, with Revered Mike Reeves Officiating. Along with his parents, James is Preceded in death by his wife, Annie lee Holmes Maddox; sisters, Frances Crosson, and Mary Eleanor Short; and brother, Wallace Maddox. He is survived by two daughters,; Mary Emily(Wayne) Reaves of Oxford, AL, and Judy (Glenn) Guajardo of Maui, Hawaii; one son, David Wayne(Anne) Maddox of Lacoste, TX; five sisters, Macie Feazell of Jacksonville, AL, Grace Martin of Oxford, AL, Joyce Story of Ohatchee, AL, Jeanette Hurst of Oxford, AL, and Susie Padgett of Oxford, AL; one brother, Alfred Maddox of Oxford, AL; nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews Pallbearers will be Zachary Grizzard, Charles Grizzard, Korey Maddox, Phillip Maddox, James Reed and Ben Padgett. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of Columbia lodge number 7 F & AM/ Hartwell Lodge number 101 Oxford, AL.
