Glenn E. Hendry, Sr., age 89, resident of Columbus, died on Friday, December 24, 2010 at Muscogee Manor Nursing Care Facility. Cryptside services will be held at the Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum, Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus on Tuesday, December 28, 2010, 11 a.m. with Reverend (Dr.) Leanne Simmons officiating. The family will receive friends at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus
on Monday, December 27, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. Mr. Hendry, son of the late A.Y. Hendry and Susan Vernon Hendry, was born August 21, 1921 in Amite City, LA. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served his country honorably during WWII. Mr. Hendy was a charter member of All Saints Presbyterian Church and a former member of Edgewood Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon, Treasurer, and President of The Men of The Church. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service where he faithfully served for 33 years. Mr. Hendry is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary Anne Hendry of Columbus; two daughters, Kathryn Alexander and her husband Joe of Hilton Head Island, SC and Martha Young and her husband John of Lake Wiley SC; one son, Glenn E. Hendry, Jr. and his wife Joyce of Columbus; seven grandchildren, Meghan Hendry, Madeline Hendry, Michael Alexander, Mark Alexander, Jennifer Post, Wyatt Givens, and Abby Bourque; nine great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Muscogee Manor Nursing Care Facility for the loving care they provided during this difficult time.
