Frank B. Hanlon, 81, of Fortson, Georgia passed away on December 11, 2024 at his home under hospice care. He was born on November 20, 1943 in East Chester, in West Chester County New York to the late Doris and Frank Hanlon. He was the oldest of six siblings. Frank graduated from Bergen Catholic High School in New Jersey, attended Iona College in New York and transferred to NYU where he obtained his BA Degree in Horticulture. After his college career, Frank began his Horticulture career at Rutgers University in New Jersey. He was employed by the Doris Duke Estate in New Jersey before moving to Pine Mountain, Georgia to work at Callaway Gardens. After leaving Callaway Gardens Frank began his own landscaping operation in the Columbus area. Frank was married to Dean Hanlon and they called Fortson home.
Frank’s love of the great outdoors and nature will be forever planted across the many landscapes he was honored with beautifying with his personal touch.
Frank leaves his legacy to be cherished by his wife, Dean Hanlon; his two brothers, Bob and Jim; his three sisters: Mary Jane, Anne Marie, and Patty; he also leaves 12 nieces and nephews to cherish his memory.
A memorial service for Frank will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the St. Elmo Room of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4071 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia 31907. Family will visit with friends after the service.
