Reverend David L. Stephens, age 78, of Phenix City, AL passed away at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA Saturday, December 15, 2018. He was born to the late Floyd Stephens and Muriel Huckelba Stephens July 25, 1940 in Columbus, GA.
Visitation for friends and family will be held at Freedom Worship Center on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 PM with Reverend Robin Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus, GA.
Reverend David L. Stephens was a dedicated husband and loving father. He married wife, Pamela Stephens on January 6, 1995. He was the Headmaster of Woodland Christian Academy for several years. Reverend Stephens devoted over 50 years serving in the ministry of several churches in the community. Out of the 50 years, 22 years have been spent serving at Freedom Worship Center. Besides pursuing his love for God, Reverend Stephens was also a published author of two books and thoroughly enjoyed being a musician and playing the drums.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Stephens and Muriel Huckelba Tripplet; brother, Clarence Stephens and son, David Lamar Stephens Jr. He is survived by his wife, Pamela Stephens; five children, Nancy Hart (James), Amanda Stephens-Hill, David Rutledge (Faith), Chris Rutledge (Cheryl) and Charity Gates (Bobby). Mr. Stephens also leaves behind 18 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two brothers, James Stephens and Don Norsworthy and sister, Dianne Schwamberger and a host of other relatives and friends to cherish his loving memory.
