Cile was born on December 30, 1944 in Louisville, Mississippi to the late Mildred Filer Kelly and Alfred Jefferson Kelly, she was their only child. Cile was a stay at home mom to her three children and a housewife. She was a devout Christian and served her Lord Jesus Christ faithfully alongside her husband, Jimmy. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed. Cile was a caregiver to many children in the Columbus area for over 13 years.
Jimmy was born on January 30, 1940 in Columbus, Georgia. His parents were the late Virginia Harrison and A.J. Harrison. After high school he served his country in the United States Navy in the late 1950’s to the early 1960’s. Jimmy worked at Sears as an Appliance Representative and retired after 46 years with the company. If Jimmy wasn’t at Sears you could find him ministering through music at Wesley Heights Baptist Church and Eastern Heights Baptist Church from which he retired after 46 years.
Cile and Jimmy’s home was the home in the neighborhood that any child could find refuge, a meal to eat, or just to find comfort. It was an open invitation to anyone in need. Together their life was family and music.
Survivors include their son, James J. Harrison; their son-in-law, Patrick Knight; their daughter, Joanna L. Turner (Mike); their grandchildren: Sarah Ann Higgins, Natalie Rose Knight, Nolee Kay Turner, Camille Marie Turner, and Silas James Turner; and Jimmy’s brother, Henry Harrison, all of Columbus, Georgia.
