Charles Elwyn Dickson, 95, of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022 at Ridgecrest Skilled Nursing Facility. A chapel service will be held on Friday, August 26, 2022 in the Edgewood Hall Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary beginning at 11AM with visitation one hour prior.
Charles was born on October 04, 1926, in Inavale, Webster County, Nebraska, he was the only child of the late Charles Henry Dickson and Maude Banks Dickson. Charles served in the United States Army, and was a World War II Veteran. He was retired from Specialty Distributing and also served as a bailiff for Judge Rufe McCombs and Judge Andrew Prather. Charles married the love of his life, Helen Wyrick Dickson. They were married for 63 years before her passing. He was a member of Glenn Anthony Baptist Church. He was a Sunday school teacher for over 60 years.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Maude Dickson; and his wife, Helen Wyrick Dickson.
Those left to cherish his memories are his children, Gary Dickson (Martha) of Maryville, TN, Donnie Dickson (Julie) of Columbus, GA, Cheryl Favant (Kevin) of Phenix City, AL; grandchildren, Michele Baldwin (George) of Seymour, TN, Kimberly Hall (David) of Newport, TN, Rebecca DeLoach (Jon), of Columbus, GA, Patrick Dickson (Brittany) of Knoxville, TN, Andrew Favant (Suzanna) of Atlanta, GA, Emily Nicholson (Josh) Denver, CO; great grandchildren, Kaley Crawford, Justin Crawford, Jacob Spencer, Lindsey Dickson, Alec Dickson, Indie Nicholson, and Billie Nicholson; great great grandchildren, Ava and Wyatt Weeks; sister-in-law, Janice Thorton Ford; and several nieces and nephews
