She was born in Columbus, Georgia on April 25, 1959 to Hazel Lamb Maxwell Rust and Bryan Milner Rust.
Carolyn was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Episcopal Church in Columbus, GA. She attended Columbus City schools, and Queens College in Charlotte, North Carolina.
To say that Carolyn lived her life completely devoted to her children would be an understatement! She loved them with all her heart! And she loved their friends equally and was the mother that everyone wished they had. She was a free Spirit! She was kind and good, and showed love to everyone. She never met a stranger. She was compassionate and strong, and loved with passion. She was a true friend and when she had nothing, she still found a way to give all she had. She saw only the good in all people, and she accepted everyone. Carolyn was afraid of nothing in her younger years, she loved rock climbing. She spent time in Aspen, Colorado, and was in love with the beauty of the mountains. She raised her children, Tyler and Madison, in Hickory,North Carolina and spent many weekends with them at her Aunt Patsy’s home on Roan Mountain. She loved nature and all animals, and the beauty of the woods. The world has lost a remarkable woman much too soon, but Heaven has gained a true Angel.
