Bobby Joe Wright Sr.

Bobby Joe Wright Sr., age 80, of Columbus, passed away on February 16, 2018. His graveside service will be held at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 1:30 pm; the family will visit with friends from 12:00 pm until 12:45 pm at Striffler-Hamby, before traveling to the cemetery together.

Bobby was born on June 16, 1937 in Juniper, Georgia; he is the son of Felix Wright and Lorine Owens Wright. Bobby enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1959 and served for four years as a SeaBee. In 1967 Bobby married Mary Ann Dunbar; they have been married for 51 years. He started construction at and early age, allowing him to become a SeaBee. He used those skills and training throughout his life as a Superintendent of a construction company. Bobby will be remembered and cherished by many; one of the ways you knew you were appreciated by Bobby was by receiving a jar of Bobby’s delicious, second to none barbecue sauce.

Survivors include; his wife Mary Ann; a daughter, Ann Marie (Jimmy) McClellan; a son, Bobby (Julia) Wright Jr.; his grandchildren, Shannon Marie Wright, Bonnie Brannen, Molly McClellan and Dylan Wright.
