Betty was born on February 5, 1945 to the late Johnny Shroyer and Pauline Davidson in Manchester, Kentucky. She worked as the director for the City of Columbus Parks and Recreation Center for 20 years. Betty was married to the love of her life James Arthur Winchester for 42 years until his passing in 2009.
She was a devoted wife and mother, who loved unconditionally. Betty enjoyed teaching arts and crafts, working with many people who came to the Columbus Parks and Recreation center and was also a boy scouts leader for many years. She never knew a stranger, and had the heart of gold.She will always be remembered for the warmth and kindness she had towards her family and others, she will be deeply missed.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband, James Arthur Winchester; her parents, Johnny Shroyer and Pauline Davidson, her sister, Judith Ann Nicohlas, and her grandchild, Zachary Winchester.
Survivors include her children, Barbara Sue Lipscomb ( Palmer ) , Johnny W. Winchester, James A. Winchester,her brothers, Jon Paul Shroyer, and Robert Wright, her grandchildren, Bambi D. Winchester Smith (Robert), Susan B. Murray ( Michael), Johnny W. Winchester Jr., Jacob William Winchester (Tabitha), Joel Wyatt Winchester, her great-grandchildren, Zeth J. Lipscomb, Divya N. Smith, Alastair D. Murray, Zayden J. Smith, Azrielle D. Murray, Aviana R. Perrault,Heidi Isabella Winchester, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A Visitation for the Family and Friends of Betty will be held on December 13, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 4701 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907. A Graveside Service will be held Friday, 12:00 PM December 13,2024 at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907.
