Barbara C. Dowdell Brown was born on December 18, 1952 in Columbus, Georgia to Haywood Dowdell, Jr. and Eleanor Mickle Dowdell. She transitioned from this earthly life to an eternal heavenly life on April 26, 2017 at Midtown Medical Center. A Graveside Service will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 11:00am in Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road Columbus. The family will receive friends at Striffler-Hamby, 4071 Macon Road Columbus, on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 from 3:00-5:00pm.
Ms. Brown accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Liberty Hill Baptist Church, Columbus, Georgia under the leadership of Rev. James Davis. She was a dedicated daily prayer warrior with the Recover All Prayer Call Ministry with Bishop Frank Reid, III, of Baltimore, Maryland.
Ms. Brown was a graduate of Spencer High School class of 1971.
Ms. Brown was a classy, beautiful and gracious lady that brought joy and laughter into the lives of everyone she encountered. She loved cooking, family gatherings, traveling, children and shopping especially. She had a passion for people and had a fun-loving personality and gentile spirit. She lived a life that inspired many. Most importantly she adored her relationship with The Lord.
Those who will forever cherish her memories are her caring parents, Haywood Dowdell, Jr. and Eleanor Mickle Dowdell, Columbus, GA; two sisters, Connie Dowdell (Aaron) Sterling and Karen Dowdell, Columbus, GA. Three brothers, Haywood Dowdell, III, Larry Dowdell, Columbus, GA and Lorenzo (Kathy) Dowdell, Harris County, GA; two uncles, Benjamin (Katherine) Dowdell and Phillip (Deloris) Mickle, Columbus, GA; three aunts, Bertha (James) Buckner, Roeaster Cole, Columbus, GA and Carolyn Jones, Brooklyn, NY; three god-sisters, Yvonne McCoy, Ellen Charleston, and Shirley Garrett; two god sons, Keondra Guy and Marco Grimes; God-mother, Emma Cooksey; three nieces, seven nephews, two great nieces and a host of loving cousins and close dear friends.
