COLUMBIA - A funeral service for Yone Oshiro Jackson, 84, will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with burial in Fort Jackson National Cemetery at 2:00 p.m.
Mrs. Jackson died on Sunday, July 14, 2024. Born in Okinawa, Japan, she was the daughter of the late Nakateru Oshiro and Kamato Kinjyo Oshiro.
Mrs. Jackson retired from working at the jewelry counter in the PX at Fort Jackson about 20 years ago. She, along with her late husband Henry Jackson, belonged to the Special Forces Association. Mrs. Jackson was a kind and loving person who treated everyone like family. She loved gardening with a passion and even won awards for her roses.
Surviving are her nephew and his wife, Nobuo and Dawn Yamashiro, and their children and grandchild, Ken, Chris, Amy, Kyle, and Layla. Mrs. Jackson also had many friends and family in Okinawa, Japan.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Henry Melville Jackson, and her four siblings.
The family would like to thank Agape Hospice Care for the care provided to Yone these last three years.
