William Woodward Sullivan III died peacefully Thursday, October 17, 2024. He was born in Anderson, South Carolina on November 24, 1939. He was the son of Louis Gray Sullivan and Hazel King Sullivan. Will was a graduate of Boys High School in Anderson. After graduation, he attended the University of Virginia and graduated from the University of South Carolina where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He started his career in Radio, managing WBER in Moncks Corner, SC, and then WCAY in Cayce, SC. He founded the Sullivan Advertising Agency where he was owner and CEO. Later, he merged with NS&G Advertising Agency where he was Senior Vice President until 1993. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and had a passion for Gamecock football, model railroading, music, art and reading. He was a member of many social, civic and volunteer organizations. Will was a member of St. John’s (Shandon) Episcopal Church and had a deep and abiding faith in his Lord. His creativity and never-ending love for his family was apparent to all.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mollie McKenzie Sullivan, beloved daughter, Caroline Harper Sullivan Morris (William Shivers Morris IV) and grandsons William Shivers Morris V and Gray Sullivan Morris, the loves of his life. He is also survived by his brother Henry Shumate Sullivan II (Gladys Gray Sullivan), sister Louise Gray Sullivan Laflamme (Ronald Douglas Laflamme), brother-in-law Ronald James Elliott (Nancy Pendarvis) and was predeceased by his loving sister-in-law Jane McKenzie Elliott. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Henry Shumate Sullivan III (Douglas), Virginia Dial Sullivan Kitchens (Clifton), Allendar Laflamme Durden (Eric), Ronald James Elliott, Jr (Elin), Richard McKenzie Elliott (Beth), Jane Lawrence Elliott Cone (Gene-O), Leigh Stevens Elliott Murphy (Kipatrick) and many beloved great nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Shandon at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 24, 2024. A reception at the church will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church, Shandon, 2827 Wheat Street, Columbia, SC 29205.
