A celebration of life with Pick’s last tailgate will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 22, 2023 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. A private burial will be held Monday in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Pick was a true southern gentleman and a creature of habit. He was an avid golfer for most of his life and could be seen playing the course at Spring Valley Country Club, dining at the 19th hole or putting around the greens with friends. During the fall, you would catch him in The Zone for Carolina football games or at home or on the road cheering on the Gamecocks for away games. Pick was a longtime member of the Capital City Club, Summit Club, and various dance clubs. He was a supporter of the USC Alumni Association, and a Silver Spur member of the Gamecock Club. Pick was passionate about giving to important organizations through ongoing support of the Oliver Gospel Mission, the Carolina Children’s Home, and the Hospitality House in Charlotte, N.C. Additionally, he was a member of Forest Lake Presbyterian Church.
Pick was a very smart businessman and had a keen entrepreneurial spirit. He spent his former career as the founder and owner of Capital Personnel and Columbia Janitorial Service. He supplied thousands of jobs for the local community with major clients such as The State Newspaper and Pepsi-Cola.
He is survived by his two daughters, Lauren Ellerbe Burke of Charlotte, N.C. and Julianne Ellerbe Taylor (Chris Taylor) of Charleston, S.C. He has five grandchildren, Blake, Logan, Elle, Grant, Kate.
The family would like to extend a special heartfelt thanks to June McKinnon for your companionship.
