COLUMBIA - Wesley Daryl McKee, 84, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017. Born on August 10, 1933 in South Coffeyville, OK, he was a son of the late Martha Evaline Yeubanks and Clyde Eugene McKee. Daryl was a member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church, the Frank Harden Sunday School Class and sang in the choir for many years. He graduated from Rock Island (IL) High School, Graceland College, and received a B.B.A. from the University of Oklahoma. While attending high school and Graceland, he had lead roles in numerous plays and musical productions. Daryl worked for the General Electric Co. for 40 years in sales and various management positions. During his career, the family moved 23 times and lived in 12 different states. He served on the School Board in Dalton, MA. He enjoyed pitching in various fast-pitch softball leagues and playing handball. Daryl was an avid golfer, having held memberships at Temple Hills (Franklin TN), Raintree (Matthews NC), York Golf and Tennis (York, ME) and most recently a 30 year member of the Members Club at Woodcreek and WildeWood. In retirement, he took up English Gardening, with his garden featured in Columbia Magazine. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Meredith York McKee; his four children: Terri McKee Armstrong (Dennis) of Aiken, SC, Randall McKee (Dena) of Virginia Beach VA, Bradford McKee (Tammy) of Indian Land, SC, and Jonathan McKee (Phyllis) of Clemmons NC, as well as 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, Elnora Wands and Glenda Hayes of Denver CO, brother, Dr. C.H. McKee (Hazel) of Tulsa, OK, brothers-in-law Edward York (Patsy) of Columbia, Gregory York (Rhonda) of Herndon VA, and sister-in-law Rebecca Moore York of Tiverton, RI. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dr. Paul McKee and his wife Pat, brothers-in-law Leroy Wands, Kenneth Hayes and Stephen York, sister-in-law Marcia York, and nephews Edward York II and Brandon Wands. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 3, at 2:00 p.m. at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 3200 Trenholm Rd.
