Wayne was born September 20,1959 to the late Oscar Levi Bradford and Lula Moss Bradford of Belcher, Louisiana.
The Celebration of Life Services featuring military honors will be held at 2:00 pm on November 19, 2022 at Dunbar Funeral Home, 4219 Hard Scrabble Road, Columbia, South Carolina. Sgt. Bradford will be laid to rest at Northwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Keithville, Louisiana.
He was quite intelligent and was accepted into Tugaloo College in Mississippi at 16 years old where he majored in Electrical Engineer. Two years later, he was accepted into the University of Wisconsin – Madison on a full scholarship with a major in Computer Engineering, and later went on to Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma where he received a BS Degree in Computer Engineering. He also enlisted in the US Army in 1983 and completed four years of service. He also completed an MS degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Michigan in Lansing.
Upon completion of his education, he was employed by General Motors for several years as a Systems Engineer. He later accepted a job with Electronic Data System (EDS) as a Computer Engineer and stayed there for more than 12 years. He last worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield for more than 17 years as a Senior Software Developer. He received many accolades over the years for teamwork and commitment from his employers.
Wayne was an avid 5K runner supporting the American Cancer Society and American Heart Association. He would personally train for months. He has as much training equipment as most local fitness centers! He really enjoyed helping others and graciously contributed to St. Jude’s, Big Brother Big Sister, Habitat for Humanity and several local community organizations.
He is predeceased by his father, Oscar Bradford and his loving grandmother, Louiza Baker Cade.
Those left to cherish his memory, include his mother, Mrs. Lula Bradford, six sisters; Willie Bradford Tyson, Mattie Bradford Goss (Tracy), Pasty Bradford Barnes (Lonnie), Carolyn Bradford Miller (Robert), Cashonna Bradford Moffett (Bruce), Shari Bradford; two brothers; Michael Bradford (Mischelle), Eric Bradford (Sharmaine); 14 nephews; 17 nieces; five aunts; three uncles; two God-Children; Justin Medrano and Zoe McLean and a host of cousins and friends.
