Virginia Watkins Freeman

Born May 5, 1930 in Pelzer, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Samuel and Lonie M. Watkins.

Jenny was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the A. B. Ferguson Sunday School Class. She also sang in the Magnifiers Choir.

Jenny is survived by her sons, Dr. Julius Gilbert Freeman, Jr. (Caroline) of Columbia, William Thomas Freeman (Sissy) of Chapin; grandchildren, Julie Freeman Hair (Brandon), William Thomas Freeman, Jr., John Gilbert Freeman (Ashley), Ragin Freeman, great grandchildren, Thomas Hair, Evie Hair, Lila Freeman, and Ivy Freeman.

A graveside service for Virginia “Jenny” Freeman will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Greenlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. David Anderson officiating, with visitation prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church, 1830 Main Street, Columbia, SC or a charity of one’s choice.
