Born in Elloree, SC, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Vernon and Eva Olando Shuler Wactor.
Ms. Parker was proud to be a Winthrop graduate. She began teaching in the public schools of South Carolina upon graduation and continued her own education throughout her career, completing many hours beyond a masters degree. She served over 20 years in the Orangeburg County schools in Neeses, Norway, and Springfield as a teacher and as an administrator. Ms. Parker enjoyed her career and treasured her coworkers and students. Many students and younger colleagues might remember her by her nickname, “Miss Dadie.”
Ms. Parker was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. This time of year she recalled and cherished many delightful memories of holidays spent in homes of family members and at various beaches on the South Carolina coast. Beyond her family, she loved to dance, read, and cheer for the Atlanta Braves and her beloved Gamecocks.
Surviving are her daughter, Elizabeth Adams Padgett (Scott); son, Jacob Tillman Williams (Susan); and grandchildren, Mac Williams (Darsey), Anna Williams (Douglas Harper), Ben Adams, Sarah Adams Boyd (Johnny), and great-grandson, Rhodes Boyd.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Lois Purser.
The family wishes to thank Prisma Health Hospice and caregiver Laverne Peterson whose attention, services, and good humor provided Ms. Parker with comfort, dignity, and laughter during the final months of her life.
Services will be announced at a later date.
