CHESHIRE CT – Rose Carley, 76, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 18, 2012. She was on vacation with her husband of 42 years, Marvin Carley in South Carolina.
Mrs. Carley taught at Hanover Elementary School in Meriden from 1959 – 2001. She was famous for her Production and Direction of school musicals. Also, named Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Carley loved her students as they loved her.
Rose was a “professional shopper” and one of the “original fashionistas”. Her incomparable dress was best witnessed on CBS This Morning with Connie Chung.
Her love of piano, singing and dancing were established at the Hartt School of Music, a masters at the University of Bridgeport, and a sixth year at Southern Connecticut University.
Rose and Marvin, a Speech Pathologist, developed and wrote a musical phonics program used in the Meriden school system in the 1970’s.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin Carley of Cheshire, CT; sister, Gloria Mormile of Middelebury and her nieces, Maria Mehler of West Hartford, Angela Chagnon of Waterbury, Tracie Paiva of Milford, Pam Sanders of California, and her cats, Tigger and Shadow.
A memorial service is planned for a date to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made on Mrs. Carley’s behalf to the ASPCA.
