Robert Lee Vick

COLUMBIA - A graveside service for Robert Lee Vick, 85, will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday, March 5, 2021 in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m. Thursday, March 4, 2021, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel.

Mr. Vick died Thursday, February 25, 2021. Born in Halifax, NC, he was a son of the late Charles Vick and Dora Mae Hux Vick. He served for 30 years in the U.S. Army which included 2 combat tours to Vietnam. His awards include the Bronze Star (2 OLC), Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2 OLC), Good Conduct Medal (3 Awards), National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and was a Senior Army Tennis Champion. He was a faithful Christian, loving husband and father, a hero to his grandchildren, and a decorated Army veteran who served his country with honor and dignity.

Surviving are his three children, Denise Self (Michael), Cynthia Kunkel (Gary) and Robert L. Vick, Jr. (Nadia); brother, Roland Vick; nine grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Joan E. Vick.
