COLUMBIA - A memorial service for Robert “Bobby” Malcolm Hipp, 75, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 10, 2016, at Shandon United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2016, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Mr. Hipp passed away June 6, 2016. Born on November 19, 1940 in Columbia, S.C., he was the son of the late James Malcolm Hipp and Rachel Derrick Hipp. Bobby graduated from Dreher High School, where he met his wife of fifty-two years, Sandra Hipp. After high school, he attended Wofford College on a football scholarship. From there, he served in the U.S. Army, 1st Armored Division, for two years. After the military, Bobby worked in sales for Shakespeare Company for many years. He later started his own sales company, where he worked until his death. He was a member of Shandon United Methodist Church for over fifty years, a member of the Golden “K” Kiwanis, and Cedar Creek Hunting Club. Bobby was also a mentor for children at Forest Lake Elementary School. Surviving are his wife, Sandra Hipp; daughters, Allison Hipp Counts (Warren) of Columbia and Jennifer Hipp McAlpin (Michael) of Milton, GA; grandchildren, Lucy Counts, Bobby Counts, Abby McAlpin, and Suzy McAlpin; sister, Patricia Hipp Bellows (George) of Charleston; sister-in-law, Pam Whitaker Dhamer (Bob) of Lake Forest, IL and many loved nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to S.C. Oncology Associates, 166 Stoneridge Drive, Columbia, SC 29210; or S.C. Wildlife Department of Natural Resources, 1000 Assembly Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
