WEST COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Mary Cecile Brabham McEachern, 95, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at Washington Street United Methodist Church, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7:00 p.m. Monday, December 15, 2014, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Mrs. McEachern died Friday, December 12, 2014. Born in Bamberg, she was a daughter of the late Angus McKay Brabham and Edith Clarice Rice Brabham. She was a graduate of Bamberg High School and the University of South Carolina. She was an instructor for the USC Extension Division for 38 years. Mrs. McEachern was a member of the Eleanor Laurens Pinckney Chapter of the DAR where she served as Regent, Recording Secretary and Treasurer. She was a member of the Huguenot Society, former president of United Methodist Women and a member of Washington Street United Methodist Church since 1942. At Washington Street UMC she served as president of the Holroyd Class, trustee for the Foundation, a member of the Administrative Board and a member of Circle #7. She was a member of the Thursday Morning Book Club in Lexington, Girls’ Bridge Club and Forsythia Garden Club. She also enjoyed ballroom dancing. Surviving are her daughter, Sally McEachern Mings (Jim) of Columbia; son, Richard McEachern (Kay Ross) of West Columbia; grandchildren, Ben Thrasher and Mary Leigh McEachern; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ted and Woodley McEachern; sister-in-law, Helen Brabham; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Furman Edward McEachern, Jr.; son, Furman Edward McEachern, III; brother, Angus McKay Brabham, Jr.; and sister, Edith Clarice Brabham O’Neal. The family wishes to thank Priscilla Kinard for her love, care and devotion towards their mother for many years.
