Mrs. Kathleen R Sharkey

COLUMBIA - Funeral Mass for Kathleen “Kay” Reardon Sharkey, 88, will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 23, 2015, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park. A Rosary will be held 6:00 p.m. Thursday, October 22, 2015 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with visitation until 8:00 p.m. Mrs. Sharkey died Tuesday, October 20, 2015. Born in Windsor, England, she was a daughter of the late Gerald and Minnie Begie Reardon. She came to the United States in 1945 and became an American citizen in 1949. Mrs. Sharkey was very active in the Walsh Guild at St. Joseph Catholic Church where she was a member. She also served many years as a volunteer at Palmetto Baptist Hospital. Prior to her retirement, she worked in the cafeteria at South Kilbourne Elementary School and at St. Joseph Catholic School. Surviving are her sons, Brian Sharkey of Columbia and Allan Sharkey of Summerville; six grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; brother, Sidney Reardon of England. She was predeceased by her husband, Major Joseph J. Sharkey; daughter, Regina Sharkey; sister, Ileene Reardon Smith; brother, Gerald Reardon.
