June Lott Rawls

COLUMBIA - Funeral service for June Lott Rawls, 82, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 23, 2016, at Bethany Chapel, 2917 Park Street, Columbia, SC 29201, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.

Mrs. Rawls died May 20, 2016. Born in Johnston, she was a daughter of the late Claud and Essie Haltiwanger Lott. She was a member of the first graduating class of Eau Claire High School in 1950. She was active in Youth for Christ, where she met her future husband, Gene. They married in 1953. She was employed by the Employment Security Commission for a few years prior to working at St. Andrews Christian Academy (formerly Columbia Christian School) for over 25 years. She and her husband temporarily relocated to Plano, Texas in 2003-2004 to care for their daughter, Ruthanne. She was in fellowship at Bethany Chapel since her marriage in 1953, where she followed the Lord Jesus Christ with her family in all that she did.

Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Eugene “Gene” Barney Rawls; sons, Michael E. Rawls of Jacksonville, Fla., Jonathan C. Rawls (Chrissi) of Greer; grandchildren, Brooke and Jonae Rawls, also of Greer; sister, Betty Sue Warren of Cayce; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Ruthanne Rawls Peck; two sisters, Frances Westmoreland, Helen Chandler; and a brother, Claud Lott Jr.
