The family will receive visitors on the front porch of his store, Mr. Bunky's, 10441 Garners Ferry Rd, Eastover, SC on Sunday, October 6th from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm. The family will hold a private burial at a later date.
A native of Great Falls, SC, he was born on April 16th, 1940 to Humphries Carter and Flossie Teague Carter. Bunky was known for his jokes and story telling. A local legend with a warm smile, he was generous, kind, humble, genuine, and dependable. There wasn't much Bunky couldn't do. He was a jack of all trades. His long list of accomplishments and hobbies include being a bee keeper, meat cutter, drummer, school bus driver, medic in the Army, bread delivery man, horse trainer, state constable, row crop and cattle farmer, dog trainer, EMT, owner and operator of Mr. Bunky's, Mason, carpenter, landscaper, nurseryman, gardener, and pilot. Most of all, his greatest accomplishment was being a father and grandfather. He will be remembered most for his innate and sincere way of making people feel better and for always being there to lend a helping hand.
He was preceded in death by his parents Humphries Carter and Flossie Teague Carter of Great Falls, brother Kenneth Carter of Great Falls, and sister Hazel Carter Gregory of Huntsville, AL.
Surviving are his brother, H.D Carter and spouse Faye of Whitmire, SC; sister, Geraldine Carter Rollins of Ellabell, GA; daughter, Julie Carter Rowland and spouse Hank Rowland of St Simons Island, GA; son, Jason Carter of Eastover; daughter, Jill Carter Lewis of Eastover; grandchildren, J. Henry Rowland, Carter Rowland, Chappell Rowland, Anna Grace Rowland, Addie Lewis, Lainie Lewis; his abundance of friends that he considered family; and his dogs, Gretel and Tippy.
