Geraldine Lehman Reed

Columbia: A funeral service for Geraldine Lehman Reed, 96, of Columbia, will be held on Monday, May 23, 2011, at 10 o’clock, at New Heights Church with the Rev. Michael L. Townsend officiating. Burial will follow at Florence National Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service, beginning at 9 o’clock. Memorials may be made to the New Heights Church, 5501 Broad River Rd., Columbia, SC 29212, or Riverland Hills Baptist Church, 201 Lake Murray Blvd., Irmo, SC 29063.

Mrs. Reed was born on March 29, 1915, in Coeburn, Virginia. She was a daughter of the late Dwight Lehman and Nettie Ellen Addington Lehman. Mrs. Reed was a very active member of the New Heights Church, formally known as Colonial Heights Baptist Church. She was a member of three Senior Citizen Groups and she enjoyed traveling. Mrs. Reed was known for her enthusiasm for life and her deep love for the Lord.

Survivors include her daughter, Jo Ellen (Roddy) Reynolds of Irmo; sons, John (Susan) Reed of Winston-Salem, NC, Gary Reed of Columbia; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Andrew Reed.
