COLUMBIA - A Mass of Christian Burial for Eileen Louise Sullivan, 60, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial in the church columbarium. The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2021, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Eileen's funeral will be live streamed on the St. Joseph You Tube Channel on Saturday at 1:00. Ms. Sullivan died Saturday, September 18, 2021, due to complications from advanced non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver. Born in Columbia, S.C., she was a daughter of the late John Edward Sullivan and Anne Marie Guy Sullivan. Eileen was a lifelong devout Catholic and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Eileen was a graduate of Cardinal Newman High School and The University of South Carolina where she earned a BA in broadcast journalism, and a Master of Library Information Sciences; and an MA in theatre and speech. A teaching certificate was earned from Columbia College. She worked as a journalist, actress, teacher, and librarian.
Surviving are her brothers, Guy Sullivan (Debby) and Chuck Sullivan; sisters, Maureen Tilley (Jim), Mary Jane Barrie, and Katy Cleary (Kevin); 20 nieces and nephews; and 16 great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Eddie Sullivan, and sisters, Peggy Hunt and Joanie Connor.
The family wishes to thank all of the family members for their constant love and support, as well as the numerous healthcare workers who made her end of life journey more comfortable.
