Catherine Alexander

COLUMBIA - Catherine “Cathy” Alexander, daughter of Catherine and Kale Alexander, passed peacefully after a long illness on July 10, 2017. Born in Columbia, SC, August 28, 1946, she lived her life helping others. Cathy received her Master’s Degree in Finance from USC. She worked as an Accounting Supervisor and then became the first woman to hold the title of Finance Director of the City of Columbia before retiring after 28 years of dedication. Cathy was predeceased by her father, Kale R. Alexander and survived by her mother, Catherine; sisters, Patty and Mary Alexander; brother, Ted Alexander; niece, Stephanie Graves; nephews, Timothy Graves, Kale Alexander (Melissa), Jacob Alexander; and great nephews, JJ Swann and Nolan Alexander. Also, cousins from Alabama and so many friends whom she loved dearly. A Memorial Service will be held Friday July 14, 2017 at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
