Carlton Phillip Williams was born on March 11, 1954 in Brooklyn, New York to Norma Pratt and the late Walter Williams III. Raised in a Christian home, Carlton grew up in Brooklyn, New York where he enjoyed school, attending church and being part of Boy Scouts. He graduated high school in 1977 and soon after began a stellar career in the United States Army.
Carlton’s career in communication began when he enlisted in the Army with a Military Occupation Specialty in Communication Electronic Maintenance Chief. His decorations, medals, badges, citations, and campaign ribbons awarded were Retired Lapel Button, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral III, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar and Bronze German Military Sportsman Performance Badge. He retired from the US Army after 22 years of service in 1997. He then worked for the government as a Military Communication Contractor where he stayed in Seoul, South Korea for 22 years.
In 2021, Carlton and his wife, Lilia Williams, retired in Lexington, South Carolina. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved sightseeing, watching Family Feud and Korean food. Carlton is very loved by his family and friends. He is a generous and caring man.
Carlton is preceded in death by his father, Walter Williams III; his brothers, Walter and Tyrone and his sister, Valerie.
He leaves to cherish his memories, mother, Norma McPherson; his wife, Lilia Williams; his children, Julius, Rhussel, Nicole and Shaira; his sister, Linda and a host of loving grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 at Elmwood Funeral Home.
