A Columbia native, Betty was born on August 1, 1946, to Richard and Frances Crawford Sessions. Alongside her husband, Clifford McLinden, she owned and operated McLinden Wall Coverings.
Betty embodied the essence of a true Southern belle and will be remembered for her beauty both inside and out. She was a vision of elegance, always dressing to the nines and was never without her signature perfume (Design) and makeup, even insisting to wear it before undergoing surgery. Betty approached life with honesty, kindness, and an unwavering devotion to her faith in Jesus Christ. When her health permitted, she was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church and Yellow Rock Square Dance Club. She also held a fierce loyalty to her University of South Carolina Gamecocks.
Above all, Betty cherished her family and friends, especially her breakfast club.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her siblings, Elaine “Donna” Jones, Wayne Sessions, Richard Sessions and Charles Sessions. Those left to cherish her memories include her children, Donna Marie Griffin and husband, John; her son, Clifford McLinden, Jr.; three grandchildren, Emma McLinden, Caleb McLinden, Juliette Shealy; two brothers, Clarence “Bubba” Sessions and wife, Donna, Ray Sessions; brother-in-law, Arthur “Buster” McLinden and wife, Dianna; her real fake daughter and granddaughters, Kim Owens, Jessica Owens and Ashley Owens; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to South Carolina Oncology Associates (SCOA).
