Richard Earl “Rickey” Stampley, Sr., of Columbia, Mississippi, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at the age of 63. He was born in Columbia, spent his childhood in Pascagoula, Mississippi, and returned to Marion County when he was 14. Rickey was a graduate of Columbia High School, where he played baseball. He earned an associate degree in electronics from Phillips Junior College. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and all sports. He coached all of his sons in little league baseball and was a huge New Orleans Saints fan. Rickey was a hardworking, talented and skilled painting contractor, and a craftsman who could build or repair anything. He was soft spoken and soft hearted and would help anyone in need. Rickey will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and soon to be great-grandfather who was totally devoted to his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Jessie Stampley; a sister, Mary Nichols; and two brothers, Tommy Stampley and Howard Anderson. Rickey is survived by his wife of 45 years, Bobbie Stampley; three sons, Richard E. “Richie” Stampley, Jr. and his wife, Alissa, Nathan Stampley and his fiancé, Marina Badilla, and Jereme Stampley; four grandchildren, Tyler Stampley and his fiancé, Amberlee Kilgore, Tanner Stampley, Nathan Stampley Jr., and Natalia Rose Stampley; a great-grandchild expected in September; two brothers, George Stampley and Harold Anderson and his wife, Laura; a sister-in-law, Pam Byrd; four brothers-in-law, Randy Kendrick, Glenn Kendrick, Don Kendrick, and Danny Byrd; and numerous nieces and nephews. There will be a visitation for Rickey on Friday, March 5, 2021 from 5:00pm until 9:00pm at Grace Baptist Church. The funeral service, officiated by Brother Robert Cole, will be at the church on Saturday, March 6, 2021 at 10:00am. Burial will follow in the church cemetery assisted by Tyler Stampley, Tanner Stampley, Nathan Stampley Jr., Jude Kendrick, Stephen Kendrick, Randy Kendrick, Jackie Stuckey, and Chase Carney serving as pallbearers.
