Mattie Mae Turnage, of Foxworth, Mississippi, went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at the age of 85. She was born in Jefferson Davis County, Mississippi to Nuet and Cleo Dixon and has been a longtime resident of Marion County. Mattie Mae was a floral designer and loved her work creating floral arrangements so much that she did not retire until she was 80. She was very social and loved everyone that crossed her path. She seemed to know everyone and quick Wal-Mart runs would take hours because she would always find someone to visit with. Mattie Mae was a woman of faith and served her Lord through her longtime membership with Richland Creek Church of God. She will be remembered as hard working, adventurous, and fun-loving.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert Allen "Rat" Turnage. Mattie Mae is survived by a daughter, Trudy Mulford; a son, Keith Turnage (Renee); two sisters, Madie Bee Robbins and Berdie Lou Regan (Nolan); two granddaughters, Tara Pace (Paul) and Loren Lackey; and four great-grandchildren, Christian Pace, Kayde Pace, Halli Lackey, and Kamryn Lackey.
There will be a visitation for Mattie Mae at Colonial Funeral Home on Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm. The funeral service will be in the funeral home chapel at 11:00am on Friday, January 12, 2024. She will be laid to rest in the Richland Creek Church of God Cemetery.
